Salazar Green at Salazar Elementary School

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Recognizing the impending health and wellness crisis the state of New Mexico is facing, the Salazar Green at Salazar Elementary School is an attempt to instill positive habits of physical exercise and nutrition both for students and the community at large. The new facility includes a 200 meter running track, soccer field, school garden, areas of reflection, and multipurpose use spaces. It will be used by the school during school hours and open for use by the public after hours and on weekends. A state of the art water collection system captures rainwater from roof and paved surfaces into 50,000 gallon storage tanks for reuse in landscaped areas and the school garden.
